Sculpted Whispers: A 6-Week Journey in Plaster Art

Plaster has shaped walls, temples, and sculptures for centuries — from the frescoes of ancient Rome to the ornate ceilings of the Renaissance. In this six-week course, you’ll explore this enduring medium through a contemporary lens, transforming it into abstract wall art that’s uniquely your own.

Each week blends lecture, technique, and hands-on creation as you design and craft two small-scale plaster pieces — a wall artwork and/or frame. You’ll experiment with both foam spray and wire mesh techniques, learning to sculpt, sand, seal, and paint your finished forms. By the final session, your piece will be ready to dry and cure, awaiting pickup the following week.

All tools and aprons are provided—just bring your hands and your imagination.

We’ll set the mood with ambient melodies, gentle rhythms, and surprise favorites woven in. Expect lighthearted conversation and the simple joy of making something beautiful from scratch.

Dates: Saturdays, November 1 – December 6, 2025
Location: Private studio in Oakland, CA (exact location shared one week prior)

About Your Instructor

At Musekind, we don’t teach from a pedestal—we create alongside you. Guided by curiosity, Maisee invites you into a space where we learn by doing, explore through play, and embrace the beauty of not knowing it all.

She’s a multidisciplinary creative whose practice flows through ceramics, painting, design, and tactile exploration—fueled by wonder and care. Maisee doesn’t teach as an expert, but as a fellow explorer who’s spent time getting joyfully messy in each medium. Her workshops are an open invitation to try something new, make something meaningful, and surprise yourself along the way.
